The Susquehanna Brittany Club begain in the late 1950's
and centered in the Williamsport area down to the Harrisburg area of Pennsylvania.
Our first fun trials and meetings were held in the Williamsport area with
members from Williamsport to Carlisle attending to make up the first trials
we had. Over the years the club has been constantly
changing and evolving with now two field trials a year, an AKC dog show
and our fun picnic's and training days. We have moved our center a bit
and now have most of our membership based in the Harrisburg, PA area to
the northern border counties of Maryland and as far west as Pittsburg.
Our membership has always been active with many past members having served
on the Board of Directors of the American Brittany Club. In addition to
working closely with our parent club, The American Brittany Club, members
have supported national events across the country by traveling with their
dogs to events such as the American Britany Club National Championship
held in Ardmore Oklahoma, Rend Lake Illinois, and Booneville Arkansas.
Below we list a few of our club's National Event Winners.
We have had three National Championship stake winners: 2-Time
National Open Gun Dog Champion DC/AFC JDZ's Roc's Ardent Boomer,
who was owned and handled by Kent Smeltz, a member and former 1st VP and
Field Trial Chairman of the club; 1994 National Gun Dog Champion FC/AFC
Hybrittin's Hot Pursuit, bred and owned by Art & Judy Cohen, handled
by Ben Lorenson; and 1993 National OAA Champion, FC/AFC Highbrow's
Red. In 1994 Red was also Runner Up Champion in the National Open
Championship and placed 4th in the National Amateur Championship handled
by Bob Youngs, our current President and former 1st VP and Field Trial
Chairman. |

In 1985 Home Acres Risk, owned by Bob and Barb Youngs, was winner
of the U.S. Open Brittany Championship handled by Loyd Budd, and the following
year Bob handled him to Runner-Up at the National OAA Championship. Finally,
the Cohens have enjoyed two wins at the AKC Pointing Breed Gun Dog Championship:
FC Hybrittin's Flatwoods Floozie owned by Art & Judy
Cohen in 2000, and FC Shady's Koala-T, co-owned by Art Cohen, in
2003. Both dogs were handled by Ben Lorenson. |
